Purpose of the position:

Soane Britain owns a traditional frame making workshop. Located in Shaftesbury, the workshop makes bespoke, high-quality furniture using traditional methods of manufacture. Due to ambitious expansion plans, we are nowrecruiting for a trainee frame maker who is interested in starting a long-term career with us.

Due to the nature of the small team at the Shaftesbury workshop the role will require a can-do attitude and the candidate must not be afraid to get stuck in with the task at hand, be enthusiastic and self-motivated. This role is suitable for someone with an eye for detail and the ability to achieve the excellent standards for which Soane Britain is well known.

Duties and responsibilities:

Working with our highly skilled Senior Cabinet Makers you will be trained in the unique skill of frame making, after a lengthy training period, you will be responsible for completing your work on time, to specification and to the highest quality. As a member of the Soane team, you will also assist in ad hoc workshop tasks including tidying, moving and stocking up on materials. You are responsible for your own health and safety and of your colleagues

Qualifications for the position:

  • A Diploma or other qualification in Carpentry & Joinery would be preferred but not essential.
  • An enthusiasm for furniture making, willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Hard working and reliable with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Quality focused with good levels of concentration.
  • Takes a safety conscious approach to work with an understanding of the safe use of woodworking
    machinery, hand and air tools.
