Devin Valentine, Luthier

Following his training bursary in 2024, Devin Valentine has studied FdA Musical Instruments at West Dean College. He has undertaken construction of an arpeggione, which combines elements of guitar building as well as viola and violin family practices, allowing him to make the most of the specialisms of his tutors. He has his own business making instruments, as well as offering set-up and repairs.

He would like to further develop the arpeggione instrument and become a name for those looking to commission rare and unusual stringed instruments. He is also interested in ergonomics, wanting to offer instruments tailored to the proportions of the musician’s body and provide accessible instruments for people with disabilities.
