About
The Art of Handmade Stained Glass by the Northern Glass Lass
Every piece I create is crafted entirely by hand, using traditional techniques that honour the original Tiffany stained glass method. There are no intricate machines or computers involved—just hands, time-honoured tools, and a deep passion for the craft.
It begins with a hand-drawn design, carefully sketched to full size. Each section of the pattern is then cut out and used to trace shapes onto sheets of richly coloured glass. I cut each piece by hand, selecting textures and shades that bring the design to life. The edges are then smoothed and refined to ensure a perfect fit.
Next, I apply copper foil to the edges of every glass piece—this is the hallmark of the Tiffany technique. Once all the pieces are in place, they are meticulously soldered together, creating strong, elegant lines that hold the artwork as one. Finally, the piece is cleaned, polished, and finished by hand.
The result is a one-of-a-kind stained glass creation, made with care, patience, and a love for this beautiful, time-honoured art form.
