About
Roslyn Whiting Leathercraft was launched in 2011 with the aim of using traditional methods to produce quality leathergoods with a creative twist. Leather is seen as a useful, which it is but I also see it as a material to be creative with.
Care is taken to use quality materials and where possible from Britain. My Eildon Collection is made from leather sourced directly from British tanneries. My buckles are made from solid brass from one of the last foundries in Britain.
All leathergoods are made with vegetable tanned leather which is the traditional way of preserving the leather using tree bark. It takes longer to tan but it uses less chemicals than the chrome tanned process – so gentler on the environment. Vegetable tanned leather is more tactile and each hide displays a unique natural grain and character. As you use your product, over time it will develop a beautiful patina.
Everything is handmade by myself in my workshop in Melrose, in the Scottish Borders.
