Join Heritage Crafts in conversation with glassworker Trejayne.
Trejayne is a glassworker based in Scotland, and for the past four years has been self-learning the art of flameworking – a modern version of glass blowing that uses a torch rather than a furnace. During this time she has documented her learning journey via social media and has grown a successful following of nearly 2 million people. She hopes by sharing her experience online that it will encourage a younger demographic to take up the craft.
With help from Creative Scotland on a crowdfunding campaign she reached her target before any of the other 20 chosen projects, propelling her from hobbyist to small business, since when she has slowly accumulated the skills and equipment to make an array of glass items such as glass pens, chess pieces, flowers, crowns, goblets and bottles. Most of her work is inspired by popular culture, from which she creates unique whimsical pieces that resonate with her audience.
Last year she created glass nail rings for Paris Fashion Week and this summer will be attending a scholarship at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Her aspirations for the future are to create an eco glass homeware collection recycling single-use household glass items and turning them into reusable homeware.
The session will take place on Zoom and attendees must register in advance via Eventbrite. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.
