About

Scarlett Farrer is a woven textile designer specialising in handwoven fabrics and hand spun yarns. Her work focuses on sustainable, ethical and traditional practices from the sourcing of local wool and fleeces, through to the processing stages of the raw fleeces, to the weaving and finishing of the fabrics.
With her graduate degree project she created ‘Filed to Fabric’ it formed a collation of fabrics made from 100% natural fibres. This was when she discovered the world of hand spinning yarns and working with raw sheep and alpaca fleeces. Being a self taught spinner, she had the opportunity to fully immersed her self and work into this world of traditional and heritage crafts.
The project soon grew and developed to her whole current day practice and Scarlett still cherishes and focuses on the sustainable, ethical and traditional practices within her everyday work.
