About
Samantha Boot is a textile artist and quilter, working entirely by hand from her Hampshire home studio having developed her textile practice thanks to DYCP funding from Arts Council England (2022).
Drawn to the ancient lineage and domesticity of her materials (repurposed vintage household linens) and using heritage handwork techniques (quilting with a rocking stitch, hand pieced patchwork and hand embroidery) Samantha creates quiet, thoughtful works inspired by the narrative of place and memory using a reductive colour palette, often with handmade, natural inks and paints.
Samantha’s work has been juried into shows nationally and internationally such as RWA 171 Open, Bristol, UK (2024), the International Art Textile Biennale 2025, Australia and was placed for Handwork at QuiltCon, Phoenix, USA (2022).
Samantha regularly runs classes and workshops across the South of England in which she shares her own interpretations of traditional handwork techniques.
