About
I’m a self-taught woodworker, artist, and author based in Mayfield, Scotland. After over 15 years in construction, I returned to what truly drives me — working with wood by hand, creating functional objects with soul. I run Papa Bear WoodWorking Ltd, where I design and carve each piece myself using traditional tools and techniques.
I work with any wood that speaks to me — whether reclaimed, fresh-cut, or rescued from the firewood pile. If I see beauty or potential in it, I’ll shape it into something lasting — be it a piece of art or a simple, useful object for the home.
My process blends raw natural texture with storytelling — sometimes through carving, sometimes by burning, sometimes by adding resin. I believe every piece of wood holds a story, and my job is to bring it out with care and purpose.
As part of that vision, I also wrote and published a children’s book “Papa Bear’s Eight Magical Clocks”, which pairs with a handmade wooden clock collection to connect craft with narrative.
I am a proud member of Scottish Heritage Crafts and the International High IQ Society. My goal is to grow a sustainable craft business, rooted in authenticity, family values, and creative independence.
