Young Embroiderer of the Year Award 2024
Gloucestershire embroiderer Beth Somerville won the inaugural Young Embroiderer of the Year Award, supported by the Worshipful Company of Broderers, including a £1,000 prize awarded at a special presentation at Eltham Palace on Tuesday 26 November 2024.
The inaugural award celebrates a young embroiderer who has made an outstanding start to their craft career.
About
Beth is a textile artist and embroidery designer. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, she interrogates line, light and geometry within plants, and abstracts to create rhythmic patterns in stitch. Each project begins with a process of deep observation - capturing moments of nature through photography, mark-making, and written reflections. These initial studies are the foundation for a design process that is fluid, responsive, and driven by exploration.
