Join Heritage Crafts in conversation with glassblower Elliot Walker.
Elliot’s career as a glass artist has taken him from four years of education in the industrial Midlands, to the heart of London as part of Peter Layton’s London Glass Blowing studio team, and eventually to a Stourbridge workshop with over 200 years of glass history and one of the four remaining traditional glass cones in the UK.
In 2022, Elliot was selected as a contestant on the surprise Netflix hit show ‘Blown Away’, where, through cool-headed determination, he was crowned the winner of Season 2, finishing the series with an incredible autobiographical installation, put together with help from the Corning Museum of Glass team in just eight hours.
In 2024 he was awarded a Heritage Crafts training bursary, supported by Soane Britain, to travel to the United States to learn the finer skills of mouth-blown flat glass making, in the hope of reviving this recently extinct craft in the UK.
The session will take place on Zoom and attendees must register in advance via Eventbrite. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.
